Artist's Statement

Over the years I've trained my eyes to see beyond the objects in front of me 

and look with a painter's eye.  

Now, when I drive down a country road or a highway, I see more than trees and land and sky.  

I am aware of the myriad array of colors I'd never seen before, 

the luminous effect of light and temperature on everything around me, 

and I wonder how I would go about capturing that moment in time.   

This is both an emotional response and intellectual process.  

As an artist it is my job to work with both facets to create a painting, 

which will touch the person who views it.
